Our chickens are housed in a contraption called a “chicken tractor”. No, this isn’t a chicken-powered farm implement. Well… not exactly. The concept is to put a small house with exercise yard in your garden, let the chickens do the work of weeding, eating bugs, etc., and then move it to another location so they can start all over again. This way, you (theoretically at least) get a clean garden, nicely fertilized with fresh chicken droppings, and plenty of free range eggs. And because the chickens are eating the way Nature intended, you greatly reduce your feed bill.
Sometimes things don’t work out exactly as intended. A picture of our version of a chicken tractor is shown above. Now that it’s been modified countless times, it works for us.
